Sakonnet Lighthouse - A Beacon of Strength & Beauty off Lloyd's Beach, Little Compton

Townspeople have always been proud of the Sakonnet Lighthouse, and rightly so. Like Mount Rushmore and the Great Wall of China, Sakonnet Light is a symbol of strength and resilience. Built in 1884, Sakonnet Light has been a staple of the coastal landscape for longer than any of us have graced LC's fertile soil. 

In an era of divided political loyalties, Sakonnet Light enjoys near universal reverence from LC locals and visitors alike. Admirers should enjoy the Sakonnet Lighthouse from Lloyd's Beach, as it's not open to the public.

'Windmill House' Is Unique Home in Little Compton, RI

'Windmill House' looks much the same today as it did in this vintage postcard. Elderly townspeople appreciate homes like Windmill House. "This place hasn't changed since I was a young boy" is a comment that is often repeated among Little Compton grayheads. According to Boston Magazine, Windmill House was offered for sale in 2016 for the first time ever. The home sold in 2019 for $1.225 million. The Little Compton Historical Society provides a bit of information about Windmill House on their website. 'House is an octagonal grist mill around which wraps a 1 1/2 section of sweeping roof.'
