Is 'Sealands' Estate the Finest Home in Little Compton, RI? (Warren's Point) July, 1941 Vintage Postcard
Vintage photo of 'Sealands' estate on Warren's Point. |
Located on a town road, (no association to deal with) yet within walking distance to one of the finest private beach clubs in Rhode Island, 'Sealands' seemingly has it all. Mott & Chace Sotheby's Realtor Cherry Arnold said, "with its rich history going back to the early 1920's, it is a truly treasured Little Compton estate."
While the house in its current form is smaller than the one pictured in the postcard, 'Sealands' still boldly boasts over 8,000 square feet of living space. The home and accompanying 5 acres last sold in 2020 for $7.3 million, a price not seen in Little Compton real estate since 2012. Property embellishments include limestone fireplaces, gardens, swimming pool, and multiple patios.
Although the front of the postcard says 'Sakonnet, RI', locals will know that Warren's Point is a more precise location.
'Mary' enthusiastically describes the impressive luxuries of 'Sealands' estate in a 1941 message. |
In this July 1941 message, Mary thoughtfully recounts several impressive features of 'Sealands' estate. Mary writes:
"Sealands" faces west with the ocean in the rear, as shown in this picture- **Illegible** room is hidden by the ell of the house, at the north end. Piazzas are all around the house, some screened in as glass enclosed rooms."
